Q: I'm an Architect, can you help me develop a spec for a project I'm working on?

A: While we aren't engineers or consultants, we do know our craft and we'd be happy to help educate you or your firm on the nuances of our trade and help you to ensure that you're planning the project properly with the right flooring system.

Q: What's the difference between Seal-Crete and Shinecrete?

A: Great Question! Shinecrete is a high quality Polished Concrete floor system that utlizies
heavy machinery and diamond tooling to achieve mechanical refinement of concrete into a smooth glass like surface with remarkable light reflectivity and abrasion resistance. Seal-Crete floors on the other hand may be prepped and repaired very similar to a Shinecrete floors but the will only be refined to a point at which some type of sealer will be applied and effectively become the new wear surface. These sealers may not be as tough as the hardened and refined concrete of a Shinecrete floor but they offer a great nonporous solution with additional texture options and sheens not achievable with polished concrete.

Q: What does it cost to install a patio or driveway?

A: We're not too sure either! Although it may seem confusing Shinecrete does not offer any concrete placement services of any kind. All of our work is "in doors grinding floors"!

Q: For a standard commercial project, how much does polished concrete cost?

A: Polished Concrete ranges anywhere from $1/SF to $8/SF depending on the desired exposure and finish level and even on the size and floor plan of the project. A standard commercial office project might be a great candidate for our 'Shinecrete Classic' system which will usually land right in the middle of that price range.

Q: Is your installation process dusty? What about noise, is it loud?

A: We run all of our concrete grinding equipment with OSHA approved attached vacuum systems to ensure less dust gets into the air on the job site. We pride ourselves on being clean and tidy and respecting everyone's space on the job site, but we also grind concrete. Most of our work is very loud and our dust is fine. Protecting adjacent areas and working off-hours are options that we discuss often with our customers.
